Strengthening the Commitment to Sustainable Digital Sovereignty with Yorizon Cloud

Berlin, September 25, 2025: Yorizon, a pioneer in sustainable edge cloud solutions, and Bechtle Rheinland have agreed on a partnership. Bechtle Rheinland is thereby complementing its existing IT infrastructure services with sovereign open-source cloud solutions from Yorizon. Yorizon’s standardized open-source cloud platform is to be provided via scalable, geo-redundant YEXIO data centers at more than 15 locations in Germany.

“With Yorizon, we are expanding our portfolio with another European partner with whom we can meet customer requirements for digital sovereignty in the cloud,” says Thomas Stachorra, Managing Director, Bechtle Rheinland, with locations in Aachen, Essen, Cologne and Solingen. The YEXIO data centers distributed across Germany enable public-sector clients and industrial customers of Bechtle Rheinland to process and store their data locally. “We also see advantages for our automation and AI solutions, in order to ensure minimal latency, maximum data protection and compliance with strict regulatory requirements,” adds Stachorra.

“With our range of end-to-end cloud infrastructure solutions from a single source, we ensure for Bechtle Rheinland that its customers’ data and software remain in Germany and are therefore consistently subject to German and/or EU law,” says Gernot Hofstetter, Co-CEO of Yorizon.

Following the motto “Sovereign-by-Design,” Yorizon makes it easier for its partners to achieve customer goals for greater independence and sustainability in IT. “On the one hand, with our enterprise-grade open-source technology, we pursue collaborative development in line with European standards,” Hofstetter explains. “In our partner ecosystem, we work together to create sovereign solutions and data sovereignty, independent of individual technology vendors. Our cloud platform enables partners to design IT architectures for businesses and municipalities with maximum freedom of action”.

The YEXIO data centers through which Yorizon delivers its cloud services are designed from architecture to power supply according to the life-cycle principle for effective environmental and resource conservation. At the heart of the data centers are the innovative water-cooled servers from Thomas.Krenn.AG. Despite their high performance density, they require no active air conditioning, and 80 percent of the energy absorbed can be fed into local district heating systems. “This enables us to achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) value of around 1.1, i.e. close to the ideal value – an aspect that is certainly relevant for our partners’ customers’ ESG or CSRS reporting,” says Hofstetter.
